“Volunteering on the Move” (VOTM) is a collaborative research project about the transformation of volunteering practices conducted by a group of organizational communication researchers. To carry out this project, the members of the research team, who work in four different Canadian universities, collaborate extensively with non-profit organizations (NPOs). The research team received a grant from the Insight Program of the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) in 2017.
The VOTM team created the website to open up a participatory space where collaborators from academic and professional spheres can create and mobilize practical and theoretical knowledge regarding the transformation of voluntary practices. Our aim is to make the website content accessible to all, so anyone interested in exploring the field of volunteerism can learn through this platform and share ideas. Your contributions will also enable the team to critically reflect on contemporary volunteering practices.
On this site, you will find a variety of resources: the research findings; the research team’s activities; an overview of the academic literature; and a selection of articles on the subject of volunteering and its transformation. We have included a detailed summary of the articles suitable for all types of readers. You will also find fun, interactive spaces where we invite you to participate and comment. Check out the Volunteering Tales section and the Breaking News section that will give you the latest on all that relates to volunteering and research on volunteering.
